Hazel Class

Welcome back to the Summer Term!
We have some more exciting and interesting learning planned for this half term (see Summer 2021 Newsletter for more details).
Hopefully the weather will start to warm up soon and we can spend more time in our garden area finding out how plants grow as well as using our maths skills to plan our garden!
Here are some examples of work we completed last term about the rainforest.
                       Welcome to Hazel Class 2020-21
On this page you will find news and notices for our class. You will also be able to see some of the work the children complete over the year.
During lockdown,  home learning activities for Hazel Class can be accessed on Seesaw.
Children have their sign in details and passwords for all sites in their homework books.
Welcome to Hazel Class 2020
It is so lovely to see the children back in school, and to be continuing their learning journey with them as they move to Year 3 Key and  Stage 2.
To begin the term we will be working on settling back into school with our friends by completing Working With Others games and activities to establish friendships and good relationships in class. We will be promoting positive attitudes to work and looking forward to all the new opportunities the year has to offer!  Here's to an exciting year together.
Hazel Class Assembly
Here is our latest assembly which shares with you some of the work we have been doing this year.
I hope you enjoy it .
Science Day in Hazel Class
The theme for our day was fossils, as we are learning about rocks and fossils in our science topic this term.
We started by making drawings of dinosaurs, as many fossils come from the remains of dinosaurs. We also made clay prints of dinosaurs which look like fossils found in sedimentary rocks.
After watching a video about how fossils are formed we completed an information sheet. We also used books to find out more.
We saw many examples of interesting fossils and used our detective skills to work out which animals or plants they came from.  It was an interesting and fun day!
This term we have been to Forest School.
We had a great time and experienced lots of new activities.
Here are just a few pictures of our time there.
Here is a booklist containing books which we feel would be suitable for Year 3 children.
There are funny, interesting, exciting and story books at various levels , so choose the ones you think you would like to read. Maybe you could visit the library to see if they have any you would like to read.
Have fun choosing and enjoy your reading !
Here are just some of the photos from our maths week activities.
We used lots of different equipment to help us as we played games and solved problems using times tables facts.
Here we are dressed in our fantastic rockstar costumes!
We had great fun working on our Times Tables this week and on Friday all dressed as TT Rockstar avatars. The music was loud and the classroom was rocking with maths games and  activities to help us remember our times tables facts.
We have been learning about History of the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age this term.
We have tried drawing like cave people ....recording animals we may have seen.
Our history expert taught us about hunter gatherers and scavengers. He also brought some artefacts for us to draw , connected to the bronze and irons ages.
We completed our work with a visit to Butser Ancient Farm , where we saw for ourselves many of the things we had been learning about and experienced some of the activities linked  to this
