Welcome to Oak Class!
Chichester Marina Trip
On Wednesday 24th May, Year 4 visited Chichester Marina as part of our geography and science topics. The weather was perfect and everyone had a wonderful day! We even walked over 5km!
Science Workshop Day
This week we had a really exciting session with Dr Francis, who taught us all about forces and how they affect us in our day to day lives. Have a look at the pictures below to see the things we got up to.
Also check out the science curriculum page to have a look at some videos of the day!
Maths Investigation Week
This week in maths we have been working really hard to solve a problem for Mr Hayne. Over the summer Mr Hayne will be moving in to his new house. We have been asked to complete a number of challenges to help him out!
Challenge 1 - Complete a full scale floor plan layout on the playground using our measuring skills.
Challenge 2 - Reduce the full scale floor plan, using conversion and division.
Challenge 3 - Calculate the area of the rooms in the house and organise costs for flooring.
Challenge 4 - We were given a budget to make sure the house has plenty of furniture and technology. We needed to budget and organise how much money we would need to spend in each room.
Challenge 5 - Present our full project to the rest of the year group!
Book week - Buddy Reading
We have had so much fun this week! We have dressed up as our favourite book characters, shared our favourite books. We even had the opportunity to spend time with a famous author!
In computing this term we have been using LEGO to practise programming and coding. We have been building LEGO models and making them move by adding code.
There are some pictures below:
Rainbow Theatre - Shakespeare
Following our Tudor topic during the first part of the term, we are now moving on in this second half of the term to study Shakespeare. We are going to be looking at who he was and why he is still so famous after 400 years!
To launch our topic we invited Rainbow theatre to come and perform an introduction to Shakespeare.
Oak Class - Mannequin Challenge
Oak Class thought it would be a really good idea to show you around our classroom. We decided that as the mannequin challenge is so popular, we would have a go at creating our own. Please let us know what you think!

Stone Age - Archaeology
Stone Age: Archaeology -
On the 1st of December 2016, Oak class, had a great time uncovering and discovering hidden treasures from the past. We looked for evidence, that the Stone Age period of history really did exist.
Our findings indicate that we may have found a range of items from different periods of time. Here is a list of some of the things we found -
Flint, a coin, a bone, parts of a uniform or medal, shards of glass, beads (possibly from jewellery) and a range of pottery.
Please check out our pictures above to see how much fun we had!
In Oak Class, we have been learning about the importance of recycling and upcycling.
We collected any unwanted items and thought about how we could improve them to make them more valuable or be reused.
Below is an example of our main upcycle project. Turning an old worn out chair in to a wonderful classroom story chair.
Oak Class -  'We enjoyed upcycling items, because we could improve an object.  We changed them in to something new and exciting for the classroom or for our homes. We held a silent auction after our class assembly to raise money for Year 4.'
