Adverse Weather Arrangements

During the winter months, the potential for schools to close due to adverse weather conditions e.g. snow or dangerous icy conditions due to freezing temperatures is more likely.

School closure decisions are not taken lightly and are very rare but sometimes they are necessary when the conditions are dangerous and put pupils, staff and families at risk. Unfortunately, the Berkley housing development estate is not gritted and therefore the roads leading to the school can become very hazardous very quickly in snowy and icy conditions.

The Felpham and Bognor schools liaise and communicate with each other so that there is some local continuity.

In the event that the school has to close, parents will be informed by text to a registered number. A notification and updates will be put on the school website and announcements will be made on the local radio stations, Spirit FM and BBC Sussex radio. Parents should stay vigilant at these times of the year and we hope that the school community will be supportive of any difficult decisions made.
