Science At Bartons

Science is one of the most exciting and interesting topics in education! At Bartons we are enthusiastic about science and like to investigate and experiment with science whenever we can - ensuring that we are supporting the children to increase their science capital. Our aim is to inspire children to take a greater interest in all STEM subjects before they head to secondary school.

We have a whole school science week every year in the Spring Term. The week allows teachers to develop a fully immersive learning environment for the children. We find as many opportunities to inspire the children during the week, through science based assemblies, science based WWO activities and exciting visitors to school.

The week finishes with all classes (from Reception to Year 6) having a 'stall' at our Science Fair. They show off their learning from the week to the whole school and it is always amazing to hear them share their learning so enthusiastically.

Continuing The Learning At Home

Science is super exciting and it shouldn't just be for school. Why not have a go at some of these great experiments at home, with friends and family? I'm sure you are going to create a lot of mess and have a lot of fun.

Remember to let your teacher know about any investigations you have a go at and please add some photos to Seesaw to show what you did and how much fun you had!

Check out the useful links - Science Bob for some amazing experiments you can complete at home.
Examples Of Our Science Learning

Below you will find some examples of the types of science we take part in throughout the year across the school (this will be updated throughout the year).
