Water Bottles

Please make sure your child comes to school with a named water bottle.

Homework

Home Learning is any work or activity completed outside lesson time, either alone, with parents, or others. Home Learning makes an important contribution to progress at school. It is used to enhance and support the pupils’ learning within school.

Homework will be set via Seesaw on a Friday and due in the following Thursday. Your child should upload their homework to Seesaw by this day.  Children are also expected to read either to an adult at home or to themselves every day. Their reading record should be signed every time they read so that we can keep track at school.

For maths investigation day this year, Chestnut class took part in a range of activities including some Active Maths games. They incorporated some maths leaning in their PE lesson by playing games that included counting and scoring points. They also had a challenge to work with their learning partners to arrange 9 triangles to make one big triangle, so the numbers that touch add up to 10. Once they had finished making the big triangle, they had to think about, how they got started and what they did next and discuss it on their table. Lots of children showed great resilience which is an amazing start to Year 2!

Chestnut Class have been busy exploring the school grounds in our Science lesson, searching for mini-beasts in different microhabitats! We carefully investigated areas such as the school field, under leaves and around plants to see what tiny creatures we could find. We talked about the different places mini-beasts live and why these habitats provide what they need to survive. The children loved being little scientists, observing their discoveries closely and learning more about the wildlife living right on our doorstep!
